Every year we have a Primary Election on the 1st Tuesday of August and a General Election on the 1st Tuesday after the 1st Monday of November. This year’s primary election is Tuesday, August 2nd and the general election is Tuesday, November 8nd.
August 2nd Primary Election
In addition to the anti-abortion constitutional amendment (remember to vote NO!) we’ll have primary races on the Aug. 2nd ballot including these Democratic incumbents and candidates:
- U.S. Rep. Sharice Davids
- Rev. Mark Holland for U.S. Senate
- Governor Laura Kelly & Lt. Gov. David Toland
- State Treasurer Lynn Rogers
- Chris Mann for Kansas Attorney General
- Mike Kelly for Chair of the Johnson County Board of Commissioners
- State House Representatives
WHY: Review your sample ballot to see which candidates will be on your ballot.
WHEN: Available beginning July 13
Vote Early In Person
WHY: Beat the lines and vote early in-person at one of the early voting locations. Details will be at jocoelection.org after June 1.
WHEN: starts Saturday, July 16
Vote By Mail
WHY: If you will be traveling, away at college, or want or need to vote from home, use an advance ballot. Apply by July 26th at ksvotes.org. (Online Advance Voting applications may not be available until after June 1.) You must apply to vote early by mail for every election unless you have a disability and have been accepted for Permanent Advance Ballot Status. (Applications available here.) You can apply for both the August 2nd and the November 8th elections at the same time. If you apply for a mail ballot, the primary ballot will be mailed to you starting on July 13th.
