The Johnson County Democratic Party (JCDP) is committed to supporting candidates who reflect our core values and demonstrate a strong commitment to effective, community-centered leadership. While we appreciate every individual who chooses to run as a Democrat, the party is not positioned to support every candidate in every race. Our decisions are guided by a thorough evaluation process and our responsibility to advance the strongest opportunities for Democratic success.
Decisions to withhold JCDP support were not made by any one individual but by committees that require a two-thirds majority vote. These determinations were based solely on the candidates’ conduct and campaign execution. Any external pressures were not a factor. Our voters, volunteers and supporters rely on us to elevate candidates who demonstrate the character, judgment and leadership qualities necessary to serve the public effectively and uphold the values of our party.
