The right to legal abortion care is at stake in Kansas

In Kansas, we all cherish our freedoms. That’s why our State Constitution specifically protects our “inalienable natural rights”, which includes our freedom to decide what is best for the health of ourselves and our families. Now, politicians in Topeka want to take this right away from us.They have proposed an amendment to our state constitution that would allow them to completely restrict the options available to a woman, should she become pregnant. We need you to VOTE “NO” on August 2, 2022 to this proposed Constitutional amendment. VOTE NO because preserving and protecting the health and prosperity of Kansas women, and their families is essential to ensuring Kansas can thrive now and in the future. This is THE election to make sure you prepare, plan and vote on or before Tuesday, August 2nd. Here’s how you can help defeat this amendment:
  • Talk to your Kansas friends & family and urge them to vote NO. ALL registered Kansas voters are eligible to vote on this amendment, including Unaffiliated voters.
  • Volunteer to write, call, text and/or knock on doors of other Democrats with us. Just a few hours of your time WILL make a difference. To volunteer, sign up here.

§ 22. Regulation of abortion. Because Kansans value both women and children, the constitution of the state of Kansas does not require government funding of abortion and does not create or secure a right to abortion. To the extent permitted by the constitution of the United States, the people, through their elected state representatives and state senators, may pass laws regarding abortion, including, but not limited to, laws that account for circumstances of pregnancy resulting from rape or incest, or circumstances of necessity to save the life of the mother.
